To nurture a better commanding of the English skills
among our students, the school has throughout the years
designed a series of activities and contests to meet the
goal. An English Learning Activity cum Contest has
been carried out on the Learning Activity Day of 13
July 2019. It was named English Awareness Campaign
Station Games.

Madam Chong of MML initiated the campaign and Ms
Malar was in charge of the running of the project. The
activities and contests simultaneously introduced during
the day have covered all 6Cs principles in education,
namely Coordination, Cooperation, Collaboration,
Communication, Creativity, and Critical Thinking.

Immediately after the schoolwide English Creative
Writing Competition held earlier in the day, Senior One
students made their way down to the ball courts, car
park, Block A lobby and front of the hall to participate
in the fun event. A total of six activities have been care-
fully designed and planned to achieve the desired result.
They are, respectively, Ice-Breaking Chariot Race,
Chain Reaction, Unscrambling Anagrams, Puzzles,
Newspaper in Education and the Fun Quiz.

The games involved 3 classes and 5 teachers controlling
the chaos in one area; 6 teams from each class. After the
logistical nightmares were sorted out and the rules were
briefed, the station games kicked off at 10:30 a.m. First
off was the Ice-breaking Chariot Race game, which was
basically a fun game of Telephone. Students chuckled
at the humorous statements being passed down while
transferring the message as swiftly as possible.

After that was the Chain Reaction game, which some
students may remember being a competition from past
English Months. Students were puzzled while coming
up with increasingly ridiculous words that led to mon-
strously bizarre phrases. Teamwork was truly valuable
in this game as it required some serious mental gymnas-
tics.
