Alumni Sharing Session 4:
Faculty of Medicine
Eng Xin Ai was the second to share about her university life. Xin Ai
went to Fudan University, which is another “Double First Class” university in
China, after graduating from high school to study Clinical Medicine (MBBS).
Fudan University is also one of the universities included in China’s “985”
Project and “211” Project. Xin Ai shared that high school graduates could
get admitted into Fudan University through the Principal’s recommendation,
Dong Zong, or individual application. Fudan University’s bachelor’s degree is
also recognised by MMC (Malaysian Medical Council).
The last speaker of the day was Yu Xiao Shuang, who studied MBBS,
a five-year programme at Huazhong University of Science and Technology,
Wuhan, China. The main reason for her taking the risk of the degree pursued
at HUST University that is not recognised by the Malaysian Medical Council
(MMC), alas, basically is that she cared more about her experience in studying
abroad rather than learning in a school with familiar people of the same
country as hers. She valued HUST’s potential in developing medicine and the
opportunities of being an intern in hospitals near the school. She
pointed out that the school provides privileges to foreign
students and the environment there is relaxed and
refreshing. She also shared her two experiences of learning
in hospitals with an anaesthetist and a psychosurgeon
respectively.
The session ended with a quick Q&A
section. Students were told to fill in a feedback
form before leaving the room.
