In our interview, Caleb Wee Zhi Yang from Jr2Z2 mentioned that the reason he chose
to draw the Sultan Abu Bakar Mosque was due to its visually striking appearance and a
somewhat manageable level of complexity for replication. He also mentioned that upon
finishing his drawing, he realized that the final result did not meet his initial expectations.
Therefore, he sought advice from his sister and finally perfected his drawing.
In contrast, the unique architecture of the Baba & Nyonya Heritage Museum inspired
Lian Hao to replicate it as his drawing. However, it posed quite a challenge to him as he
stated that this was his first time drawing such a detailed building. The complex carvings
and the symmetrical shape of the building must be considered when drawing the museum so
much work and dedication is needed to perfect it.
Meanwhile, Tan Xin Yu from Sr2ScC chose to draw the Sultan Abdul Samad Building
in Kuala Lumpur because she loved the building style and the intricate texture of the
building. She felt that it was a building that symbolizes an important part of the modern
history of Malaysia. Due to busy school activities, she struggled with the deadline of the
competition but still managed to complete her artwork eventually.
