A Tough and “Bubbly” Battle:

Behind The Scenes of

“Phantoms of Bubble Fantasy”

ith a series of bubbling activities kicking off with resounding success throughout
Wthe entire Science Week 2023, “Phantoms of the Bubble Fantasy” which was held
during recess inside the integrated science lab from 6/7 to 7/7 has become a hit among the

students.

Students had immense joy immersing themselves in the mesmerising bubble
daydream, including blowing bubbles that glow in UV light, satisfying their competitive
spirit in creating the biggest bubble, and overall indulging themselves in the uncommon
glee of playing bubbles like a preschooler. However, it was all fun and games until the
crowd returned to their respective classes, and all that remained was the entirely soapy

science lab.

Here comes the real work, the first challenge that the committee members had to
tackle was the two tables that were foaming with soapy bubble solution. They scraped off
all the foamy solution into a big tray, with a total of two trays needed.

Next off, they realised it was virtually impossible to clean the tables with only table
cloths, so they initiated a change of plans to splash water on the table to get the soap
solution on the floor and clean the soapy floor with mops instead. Now that the battlefield
on the table has relented, the foamy mixture that flooded the floor was all that was left to be

duel with.

With two additional floor wipers and mops coming to rescue and joining the
taskforce, the nine committee members all plunged into action with their “equipment”
in hands, combating the persistent lather on the floor. With their continuous effort of

alternating between splashing water to dilute the stubborn lather and soaking up the
solution with mops, the situation was finally back to control.

As the final puddle of diluted bubble solution had been soaked up, and all the mops
cleaned and wrung out, this marked the end of the unforeseen battle. Thanks to all

committee members for saving the day!
