On 12 April 2019, it certainly was a day filled with creativity and innovation. The preliminary
progress report of the annual Invention Competition would be released today. Junior contestants
started swarming to the General Science Lab as soon as the clock struck 10, while Senior contes-
tants moved toward the direction of Chemistry Lab.
When during signing up to be contestants of the Competition, students are required to submit
their proposal for the invention to their science teachers in late January. Thereafter, the students
started to work on their invention in duration of three months. Today it was the day for all stu-
dents involved to make the presentation in front of a group of science teachers. It has also been
served as a progress report for their proposed invention.
Contestants had been called one by one to present and describe their invention; science teachers
like Mr. Tu Liong Yu, Ms. Loke Ai Chin and Mr. Ooi Hun Huang asked questions from time to
time as they listened to the descriptions and demanded replies on the spot. In return, teachers
gave suggestions to each of the inventions. The advices given should be able to help the students
to make improvement on their individual project; in a way to better qualify for the upcoming Tan
Kah Kee Young Inventors’ Awards.
