Foundation of Kuen Cheng High School
Education is the foundation on which a nation is built, economic wealth and cultural
flourishment are fruits from consistently spending time and effort in the nurturing of
talents and cultivating of innovative ideas. Our founders, Madam Wu Xuehua and Mr
Zhong Zhuojing, overcame many obstacles and hardships to bring to life their dream of
founding a school over a century ago. Their enthusiasm and devotion to education led
to the establishment of Kuen Cheng Girls’ School in Kuala Lumpur, the heart of
Malaysia, in 1908. As demand for places in the school grew, it moved several times to
larger facilities until finally nestling in its current location, along Kuala Lumpur’s
famous Klang River.
In 2003, to improve the teaching facilities and to meet the increasing demands of a
growing student population, the School’s Board of Directors launched a 15-Year
Reconstruction & Refurbishment Plan. To usher in the centennial of Kuen Cheng High
School in 2008, the Board made the transformational decision to convert the school to a
co-ed institution. These changes helped bring forth in Malaysian society remarkable
progress in education. Today, Kuen Cheng High School is well-equipped, with modern
school facilities and technology and a strong team of dedicated teachers and staff. Total
number of students has currently exceeded 4,500.
