successfully deciphers every word. Despite having Chinese as her favourite subject,
she struggles in other languages such as Malay and English because she doesn’t
practise them often. She has yet to overcome this challenge but is trying her best to
do so by attending extra tuition classes and doing consistent revision.
During the time of the interview, she has just learned how to draw a graph and found
it simple. Additionally, she often shares tips and tricks with her classmates on how
to draw graphs more precisely. Unfortunately for Jing Xuan, her most memorable
experience in school was unpleasant, as she shared how her phone went missing a
few months ago and has yet to be found. Despite her eventful daily life, she said she
was content to live life to the fullest.

Crystal Mah Qin Xi Jr3M(1)
After three years of hectic Kuen Cheng life, Crystal Mah Qin Xi, from Jr3M1, shared
that the most important lesson she has learned so far in high school is expanding
one’s social network since friends are essential in our day-to-day lives.
As someone who finds Mathematics versatile and applicable, it is without a doubt
that Mathematics is Crystal’s favourite subject. However, not all subjects are
smooth sailing for her. She stated that she finds valency in Chemistry difficult and
is striving to overcome this challenge by brushing up on this topic. Furthermore,
after a debilitating injury in PE class while playing basketball, she learned how to
be more aware of her surroundings.
Amidst all the overwhelming stress and pressure in school, she looks forward to her
co-curricular activity, the Philharmonic Orchestra Club, where she is a violinist.
Crystal is elated since she has gained a lot of experience, which will help her if
she ever wants to play in an orchestra or be a soloist. Despite the hectic schedule
of someone preparing for her JUEC, she still manages to live life to its maximum
potential.

Being able to articulate and speak confidently is integral to Ho Jin Xian’s character
traits. Coming from Sr1ScC and the English debate club, he believes that the
ability to speak and present your points confidently and clearly is one of the more
important lessons you can learn in high school. Understanding where other people
are coming from and knowing what to say in different scenarios is a skill Jin Xian
picked up during his school years.
Many think that high school is just another necessary phase one must go through
to achieve a higher education, which is true. Still, Jin Xian believes that high school
exposes us to many different subjects, which allows us to know what subjects we are
interested in and find it meaningful. He found Maths fascinating as it is an important
subject that is useful in the real world and also helps in increasing problem-solving
skills and adapting skills. Being able to find a solution to a maths question quickly
does not directly correlate to being able to solve real life problems but it definitely
helps in getting our brains to think about something from many different angles.

After six years of turmoil in Kuen Cheng, Lee Ting Ze from Sr3A can proudly say
that the most meaningful lesson that he has learnt is communication and learning
how to value friendships. After having a disagreement with his friend, he got to
know who really matters and learned to get over and let go of toxic relationships.
“Over time, I understood that some people just really don’t care about how I feel,
but also, on the other hand, I learnt that most people aren’t as bad as I thought”, he
added. His co-curricular club, the counselling club, helped him to understand the
inner workings of other people and to be more understanding. Learning to share
his feelings and not keep all the negative emotions to himself was a big step in his
journey. Being more carefree and laid back in nature, Ting Ze’s favourite subject in
school is PE class. Being able to relax and have some downtime is very important
in one’s school life, i.e., balancing schoolwork and me-time.
