The Spelling Bee competition is held in conjunction with the English Week from

31st July to 2nd August 2023 during the second recess in the hall. There are three
different categories split between these three days: Category A, B and C. Category
A consisted of Junior Middle One and Two students, Category B consisted of Junior
Middle Three and Senior Middle One students while Category C consisted of Senior

Middle Two and Senior Middle Three students. The contest consists of a total of three
rounds, two rounds were focused on oral while the other was writing.

At the outset of the competition, Junior Middle One and Two students began

queuing up at their respective groups with each teacher in charge. After a brief
explanation of the rules and regulations, the event was officially underway. An air
thick with nervous tension permeated throughout the air as the teachers read the
vocabularies to each group. The students on the other hand, exhibited an extraordinary

degree of their linguistic acumen and were highly cooperative with each other during
the three intense rounds. As the competition drew to a close, marks were calculated and
the teacher revealed the outcome of the competition. Team Barbee and the Beahouse
dominated the first place while Team Cocomelons clinched second place. Finally, Team

Bubble Guppies was announced as the third place of the competition.
On day 2, the exciting duel between Junior Middle Three and Senior Middle One
students commenced. The competition began as soon as the 10 groups were ready. It
was evident that everyone was giving their best efforts and trying their hardest to win.

The winners were promptly announced after the results had been calculated and passed
over to the teacher in charge. Team Snoopy came in third place while Team Alvin and
the Chipmunk came in second place and finally, the champion of Category B was Team
Goofy.

The final day of the spelling bee competition, on the 2nd of August 2023, was
devoted to the cut-throat competition between participants from Category C, consisting
10 groups of students from Senior Middle Two and Senior Middle Three. After the

number of correctly spelled words from each group were totalled by the judges, the
winners from Category C were announced. The first place goes to Snoopy, Dexter’s Lab
placed 2nd, while Minions Squad splendidly took the 3rd place.
