Following the instructor’s order, the contestants lined up at the starting line
approximately five minutes before the race started, full of youthful spirit and energy. As the
instructor counted down to the start of the race, the chatter of the contestants gradually died
down, as everyone’s focus shifted to the air horn, awaiting its roar. And that is how the event
started.
(Photo 2: Picture of the contestants
lining up at the starting line) Throughout the race, numerous
groups of people could be seen
performing their duty on the sidelines,
including the Air Scouts and Girl
Guides, Police Cadets and members
from St. John Ambulance, the Interact
Club and the Environmental Society.
The St. John members had first aid
kits by their sides just in case anyone
got hurt. The Boy and Girl Scouts were
in charge of maintaining the order.
Meanwhile, the Interact club gave
out water to those in need. Some
teachers and students had been seen riding on bikes and motorcycles to make sure the event
went smoothly.
The event spanned 2 hours in total, but a few runners even managed to finish their
run of 7 km in about 30 minutes. As the fastest runners of each category claimed their place
on the podium of the top 10, those who finished also got a participation medal for their hard
work. Many cheerful and supportive students and instructors lined up at the finish line to
award these medals and refreshments as well.
People were seen taking photos of their medals with their friends to commemorate
this special day. It was a memorable day that will be remembered by everyone who has
participated. To many, this special day will be cherished for ages to come.
