However, it quickly became a symbol of hope for a

struggling nation. This photo was taken after the Great

Depression, symbolizing America rebuilding itself
from ruins. The various ethnicity of the ironworkers

represents that America is built on the foundation of

international citizens, which leads to the photo's fame

after publishing.
