On 6th April 2023, Kuen Cheng Chinese Orchestra (KCCO) members had a welcoming party for new recruits of 2023 from 3.15 pm to 5.15 pm, filled with lots of fun, and food. Members started off by gathering into groups, as arranged by the activity coordinators, to introduce themselves and get to know each other. Laughter and applause could be heard everywhere.

Soon it was time for games! These included Acting Chain, 369, and Number Bomb. Here are the simplified rules:

  1. Acting Chain: Each group forms a line. The first member is given the keyword, with other members facing back. First member then proceeds to act out the keyword to the second member, the second member repeats the gesture to the third member, etc. The last member has to guess the keyword.
  2. 369: Two groups form into a circle. Members say numbers in sequence, starting from 1, and numbers with 3 as their factor or contain 3 inside shouldn’t be said, but the member must clap. Each member must either say the number or clap within 3 seconds, or face elimination.
  3. Number Bomb: All members attempt to guess a number (between 1-100), as the range of it gets smaller. The group whose member somehow guesses out the number must be punished.

Punishment time, somehow, was also fun for everyone, as members attempted to do stuff required as they each chose a number (for punishment). These included catwalking, mime playing their instrument, even mimicking the orchestra’s conductor!

After that, a group photo was taken. Cheese!

Lastly was the long-awaited feasting session. Members ate pizza and drank fizzy drinks, all the while getting to learn about each other more through talking and sharing.

Overall, it was a huge success. This year’s welcoming party was a great bonding experience for all KCCO members. Special thanks to the committee for preparing this memorable highlight for 2023!
