Kuen Cheng High School hosted an engaging session for teachers focused on understanding and guiding students through their career planning journey. The development program held on 4 May 2024, for the non-Chinese speaking group, was led by Mr. Tan Yong Chin, the Head of the Counseling Department. It was aimed to equip teachers with essential insights into career guidance strategies, availability of resources.
The session kicked off with an interactive warm-up game, fostering a friendly atmosphere among teachers across different departments. This icebreaker set the stage for a collaborative and informative discussion.

Mr. Tan led the conversation, delving into the differences between career planning approaches in public and private schools. He highlighted Kuen Cheng High School’s unique approach, emphasizing personalized guidance tailored to each student’s needs.

Teachers gained valuable insights into the post-SPM exam pathway and the crucial role of counsellors in supporting students throughout this transitional period. From Junior Middle One to Senior Middle Three, students are introduced to the basics of career planning, including self-exploration based on personality and life outlook.

To enrich students’ career exploration journey, the school organizes campus visits and invites professionals from various fields to share their experiences. These initiatives provide students with firsthand exposure to different career paths and help them make informed decisions about their future.
The session concluded with teachers equipped with practical knowledge and tools to assist students in their career planning endeavours. Kuen Cheng High School remains dedicated to empowering students with the guidance and support they need to succeed in their chosen paths. Teachers expressed their appreciation to Mr Tan Yong Chin for his informative and enlightening presentation.
