As Chinese New Year is just around the corner, students of Sr2ScB celebrated Chinese New Year on the 3ʳᵈ of February, putting on impressive performances and a ‘lo sahng’ tradition from 10:15 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Right after the break, Sr2ScB’s class performance kicked off. Three classmates had grouped together to serenade the class with a few violin pieces. They played their songs with great passion and their performance was truly superb. After that, a student from the class performed a dance for everyone. She moved with grace unlike any other and her movements were intricate and precise. The final performance included two separate duets. Everyone was bedazzled by the vocals of these two groups as their singing was really captivating.

After the performances had concluded, a few students set up a few tables in the centre of the class. They laid rolls of aluminium foil on it and placed the contents of a “yee sang” onto it. Everyone crowded around the tables and on the countdown of three, the “Lo Sahng” ceremony began.

After everyone had settled down, it was time to clean up. Everyone promptly rearranged the tables and chairs as well as started sweeping and mopping the floors. The clean up was swiftly completed which also signalled the end of Sr2ScB’s Chinese New Year Celebration. Everyone left school with a heavy heart as to most of them, this would be their last celebration in school as they would be leaving school after SPM.
To bring the celebration to close in the words of Sr2ScB’s Form Teacher, Ms. Ding Poh Ling, “Senior life is short and time goes by in the blink of an eye, so I hope all of you can give all your might in living life to the fullest.” Wishing everyone a great year ahead!
