On 5th May 2023, Kuen Cheng High School Class Monitors Club held their annual event, the Class Flag Display Ceremony, at the outdoor basketball and volleyball court. The ceremony began promptly at 7:30 am with a performance by the Wind Orchestra. As the music played, class flag bearers entered the court one after another. All students and teachers were then requested to stand up and join in singing the national and school anthems, having live performance by the Wind Orchestra.

After the anthem-singing ceremony, Principal Dr Chua Lee Lee was invited to speak for the memorable event. She hoped that the effort put in by each contestant could pay off by gaining experiences on how to comprise an essential symbolic flag through class collaborations and indirectly cultivate an amiable school culture.

The Vice President of the Class Monitors Club, Ong Jia Qi, gave an enlightening speech too, emphasising the aim of the class flag designing competition. Class cohesion and responsibilities would be the priority while expressing the uniqueness of respective classes through the individual flags design. She proclaimed that every one of the students plays an important role in the class, and none of us should be left out or excluded from the team. She also showed gratitude towards the club members involved in the event and the hard work that each contestant had contributed.

Following was the announcement of the winners of the class flag design competition. In Junior Level, winners of the Junior Middle One from the third runner-up to the first are Jr1S(5), Jr1Z(5), and Jr1Z(4) respectively. Winners of the Junior Middle Two in ascending order are Jr2Z(5), Jr2Z(3) and Jr2M(1). Winners of Junior Middle Three from the third place to the first are Jr3Z(4), Jr3Z(5), and JrM(1). As for the Senior Level, Sr1A took third place, Sr2ScA placed second and Sr1ScB placed first. Coming up was the Sr2s, SrScD won the third place, Sr2ScA won the second place and Sr2ComB triumphed over the champion spot. Last but not least, Sr3, Sr3D took the third place, Sr3ScA won the second place and Sr3ComB became the First. Certificates were awarded to the class representatives by Principal Chua, and a group photo was taken according to the Levels of the class.

Up next, a student from Sr1ScE gathered the flag bearers to wave their flags and salute. The whole process was short yet impressive because of the neatness of the flag bearers.

Class Flag Display Ceremony, the annual event, has already garnered an excellent audience despite it only being held for the second time in the School’s 115-year history. Many students are enthusiastic about the opportunity to contribute to their classes in a creative way and are looking forward to next year’s Class Flag Display Ceremony and the Designing Competition.
