On Saturday, 26th March 2022, the morning sets the day and the assembly paves the way for our students to rejuvenate their spirits. The assembly kicked off to a start with the national anthem and school anthem. After that, two representative prefects recited the School’s Students Value.
The theme of the assembly was “The Teeterboard of Rat Race and Involution”. First and foremost, two senior students shared their personal experiences regarding their studies. Poon Wing Yu from Sr3ScA suggested that we should set a realistic yet detailed target and plan before striving to enhance our study efficiency. Therefore, we should find which method suits us best. For instance, we can make a timetable with sufficient breaks to study different subjects regularly. We should also get more benefits while doing just one thing like learning languages through television. In short, the length of our study time should never be a measure of hard work. Instead, the efficiency and the outcome are the ones that are worth it.

Up next, a student from Sr3B – Lam Yuan Sheng talked about his change of attitude in his studies from junior to senior years. At first, he was targetless and disorientated as he spent a large chunk of his junior life playing with friends and things did not get better in his senior years. Students have to take online classes and he found himself unable to concentrate, causing a downslide in his grades. However, he had found himself interested in agriculture and decided to pursue a career in that field. He advised us to keep distractions such as electric gadgets away, or even mute our phones when studying. He was quoted saying “It’s never too late to change our life for the better.”

Last but not least, in line with Earth’s Day, the School organized some events to raise awareness regarding environmental issues. On 22nd April 2022, students and teachers have been given the golden opportunity to involve themselves in the vegetarian day. Apart from reducing the usage of carbon, participants can also practice a healthier diet. Unlike normal days, the canteen will sell meat-free meals only on that particular day.

Students are encouraged to enrol in the “DIY vegetarian lunchbox” contest which will be held from 26th March to 16th April. In addition to making a wholesome and scrumptious lunchbox, students can mix a variety of fruits and vegetables as decorations to the lunch box. As long as the food is vegan, students are allowed to make lunchboxes in all forms such as salad, onigiri, sandwich, dish up, etc. There is a small reward that is currently kept secret for the most creative lunchbox. All contestants’ recipes will be shared.

The assembly was extremely informative and meaningful. As the Earth’s Day motto says, “involve in our planet”, everyone must invest in our planet to combat the climate crisis.
