To commemorate the promotion of trainee prefects, Kuen Cheng High School Prefectorial Board organised a Prefect Inauguration on the 1st of August 2022. The ceremony was held from 7.20 a.m to 8.10 a.m.

At 7.20 a.m. sharp, all the teachers arrived and were invited to their respective seats. Students were also allowed to watch the ceremony from the basketball court. The ceremony started off with the National and School anthem. All students and teachers present stood up to pay respects. Once the anthem ended, a speech was given by our honourable Principal, Dr Chua Lee Lee.

Subsequently, the newly appointed prefects marched to the centre of the basketball court. Their names were called one by one, to which they responded by raising their hands in a marching sort of way.

Next up was the advisory group, they too marched to the centre of the court. They saluted one by one and were awarded a badge by, again, the Principal, Madam Chua and the Head of the Discipline Department, Ms Lim Siew Lian. Following next was the management group who had undergone the same procedure.

The previous Head Prefect, Lee Shuk Wei handed over a file which symbolises their duty to the current Head Prefect, Chan Yong Tong.

This was then followed by a declaration by all the prefects, led by the current Head Prefect. They promised to wholeheartedly serve the School, and promised to set a good example for all the students.

Afterwards, Yong Tong gave a speech as the Head Prefect. She thanked the Discipline Department for having the trust in her, and also Ern Tong and Rou Lyn and promised to serve the School the best that they could. She reassured the students that the prefects would act as the bridge between the students and the School, reminding them that if they encountered any problems they could always go look for them.

With that, the ceremony had come to an end. The teachers and students promptly left to prepare for the day ahead of them.
