Continuing their first sharing session from the previous Thursday, the Guitar Club was back again with more enticing melodies on Tuesday, 2 June 2020. After gathering the initial audience on Zoom, the crowd moved to Facebook Live to enjoy the guitar performances from various Guitar Club members.

Kicking off the show were eleven guitar covers of famous songs, each performed live by club members as young as Junior 2. Some of the notable songs covered included “Love Story”, “Love Confession”, “Do Re Mi”, “Won’t Cry”, “Summer” and “Someone Like You”. A song that stood out from the rest was “Till the Demon’s Gone”, an original song composed and performed by Ian Richard Siguty.

The fingerist (pure guitar strumming) performances were up next. The three songs that were performed were “River Flows in You”, “Twilight” and “Love Confession”. All three were impressively played, invoking many emotions and reactions from the audience as seen in the live chat feed.

Afterwards, a few recordings of small ensemble performances were played. These recordings were winners or runner-ups of competitions held within the Guitar Club, each revolving around Disney as their themes. The songs that played were pure instrumental covers of “Into The Unknown” from Frozen II, the “Up” theme, and “When You Wish Upon A Star” from Beauty and the Beast. “Synchronising the melodies was surely not an easy task”, as stated by Ms. Yong King Li, the Host/Teacher-advisor of the Guitar Club, “therefore these groups are undoubtedly talented for being able to pull it off beautifully.”

Moving on were recordings of the large ensemble performances, which were performed by a significant number of club members at once. The first recording that played was “Cuna Cabana”, a song the Guitar Club members performed at their first live performance and at Hanoi last year. Following that was “Under The Sea” from The Little Mermaid, which was recorded during the MCO period.

After that, the concert ended. The dedication seen in the Guitar Club members were certainly not to be underestimated as they pulled off every song wonderfully. May we wish all the members in their musical journey with their magnificent acoustic instruments a great success!
