Vocal talents, galore! The best vocalists of our school got to show off their skills in the two hour singing competition held on 5 June 2020, from 2pm to 4pm. A total of 22 participants, of which 14 were juniors and 8 were seniors, had made it through the initial internal selection process to compete.
There were no shortages of impressive vocals, even among the junior contestants. Many had covered popular Chinese songs, such as “If I Were Young”, “Twilight” and “The Light Runner” with poise and elegance. Some complimented their vocals with cute dance routines, like those done by Ellis Ong Khai Zhin from Jr1K and Tee J-Xin from Jr2A.

We then moved on to the seniors, who proved that they were not going to back down in face of the junior contestants. The first senior contestant, Song Keh Ming from Sr1A, covered the song “Moments” with undoubtedly impressive gospel-like vocals. The contestants that followed did not disappoint either, covering popular hits such as “Jing Lei”, “You Are The Reason”, “Can’t Help Falling in Love” and “Love Yourself”. The final contestant’s song, “Riding the White Horse”, a folksy song incorporating elements from the Southern Min people of China, closed the competition on a sweet note.
