“Dong Dong Qiang!” It was that time of the year again. Chinese Lunar New Year was just around the corner and the Co-curricular Department specially prepared a minigame activity and multiple other activities based on this year’s Chinese zodiac sign, the Dragon! The outdoor parking area was packed with people as multiple students were eager to participate in the activities. The committee prepared numerous attractive prizes as well.

The minigame consisted of 4 stations, every station tested different abilities of the students, including identifying skills, aiming skills, knowledge, and teamwork. At the first station students received a card to collect stamps. Once all of the stamps were collected, players were able to redeem their prizes at the lucky draw station.

The first station was named “Blindfolded Object Recognition”. As the name implies, the participants named the object and put it in a non-see-through black box while blindfolded.

The second game was to bounce ping-pong balls into plastic cups. The goal was to score 2 balls in 30 seconds.

In the third game, the participants had to assemble the words stuck onto a board to form the idiom indicated in the respective pictures given.

The last game challenged students’ teamwork spirit. Students were asked to stand in a queue by the game master. While holding the long-shaped cans, they had to pass a ping-pong ball to the other player using the cans given. If they failed to pass the ball, they had to start over again.

Although the activity turned out to be successful, the committee presidents, namely Lim Ian Jo, Yong Pei Hua and Ooi Chong Chern confessed that the preparation process wasn’t very smooth. Unexpectedly, on the day of the activity held, there were more participants than predicted. As such, they began the activity later than originally planned. Regardless, the committee members managed to carry out the activities well. Everything went on without a hitch. The presidents also mentioned that due to limited budget, they used recycled materials to make the tools needed and in the end, they only spent RM 16.
