Kuen Cheng Project A+ SPM – BM Webinar took place via Zoom video platform on 17th September 2022, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The main objective of the webinar was to assist SPM students in passing with excellence in compulsory subjects which includes the Malay language test or known as Bahasa Malaysia (BM).

The webinar started off a bit late. After a brief introduction by the speaker, Cikgu Tan CL, the webinar commenced at 9:20 a.m. sharp. First of all, a mind map shared by Cikgu Tan helped the students better understand the latest format of SPM Bahasa Melayu.

Following up, Cikgu talked about the writing techniques for BM paper 1. Paper 1, which is “Penulisan”, is split into two sections, including “Karangan Bahan Rangsangan” and “Karangan Umum”. He reminded the students to be cautious with the word limit set for each section as marks would be deducted if they exceed the word limit. He also stated that some words or phrases in our essay should be counted as ONE WORD only:

Cikgu Tan then went ahead to explain the scoring scheme for BM Paper 2. There are a few main questions in Paper 2 of the Malay subject. He reminded the students to not make simple mistakes and that they should try to answer a question despite not knowing the answer so that they might have a chance to score. He then reminded the students to follow the format of the paper exactly to avoid the risk of being unable to get any marks at all.

At the end of the 2-hour-long webinar, Cikgu Tan apologized for taking up 15 minutes more time than promised. Having said that, he wished the students would get good grades in their SPM. MJ Chan, the host of the webinar then reminded the students to get the notes of the webinar from the telegram group chat and that the recording of the webinar will be shared in the same group too. Lastly, he also mentioned that more similar webinars will be hosted in the future.
