At 8:00 a.m., Zoom was opened and signed into, for the last time this year. Today is Kuen Cheng High School’s 2021 Closing Ceremony, which celebrates the year-end closing of each student, from the naive Junior 1s to the mature Senior 3s.
The ceremony began with the singing of the national anthem and school anthem, followed by a speech by our Principal, Dr. Chua Lee Lee. She started off by expressing her gratitude to fellow teachers, students, and parents for giving their full cooperation and warm support during this trying time. She then began a 2021 throwback: from January’s school opening ceremony to April’s school reopening, and June filled with competitions and talks to September’s class anthem composing contest!
Next year’s plans were also revealed. School will reopen once again on the 3rd of January in 2022! Students can proceed to make purchases for school books starting from December 13th. Other than that, classes shall take on blended learning methods as well as hybrid methods starting next year. Resulting in 4 physical school days, 1 online learning day, and 1 activity day per week. Madam Chua also mentioned that schooling times are now starting from 7:50 a.m., 30 minutes later than the current schooling time. This allows students to have more time to prepare for school and have a proper breakfast. She ended her speech with advising everyone to stay cautious and carry out necessary precautions to prevent Covid-19 and other illnesses and to make good use of the holidays.

After that, the Head of the Academic Department, Madam Leong Wai Yee proceeded to start her speech. She proceeded to emphasize on the schooling methods while entering the topic of next year’s holidays and special dates. She also announced that next year’s class schedule will be released on 21st of December. She put an end to her speech by saying motivational quotes.
It was proceeded by a talk from the Head of the Discipline Department, Ms. Lim Siew Lian. In the talk, she explained several SOPs when everyone returns to physical classes, which includes scanning MySejahtera if a phone is brought, temperature checking, elevator rules, etc. She also showed the school uniform dress codes, as shown below.

Next, she introduced several shops where students can purchase white shoes for the new school year, phone keeping procedures, and others. At the end of her talk, she hoped that everyone would make good use of the holidays and wished everyone happy holidays.
After the talk by Ms. Lim Siew Lian, a speech was given by the Assistant Head of the Co-Curricular Department, Madam Lai Yan Qiu. She informed that “Kuen Cheng Online Art Exhibition Year 2021” will be held from 27th to 30th December 2021. Afterwards, Madam Lai explained 2022’s co-curricular activities format, where activities will be held online. She also talked about the procedures for changing co-curricular societies.
