Getting into Kuen Cheng High School isn’t an easy feat. With almost 1800 students competing to get a chance to study here, it’s no wonder the 2023 Junior Middle One Placement Test had the highway outside the school flooded with cars and mental support from parents.

Jalan Syed Putra around 7:00 a.m.

On the 1st of October 2022, Kuen Cheng High School welcomed primary standard six students from schools far and wide to partake in the placement test, with the subjects Chinese, English, Malay and Mathematics being accounted for.

Students were told to arrive before 7:30 a.m. and check their allocated exam hall before finding the classroom for their test. As students filled in from the school entrance, the Prefectorial Board, Police Cadets, Hostel Students and teachers helped to direct them into the school blocks and exam halls.

Directing Students into the School

The placement test started at 8:00 a.m. with the Chinese subject followed by English. The students were then given a break from 9:45 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. with Milo drinks and bread provided by the school as a snack. The test resumed with the subjects Malay and Mathematics.

As the placement test ended at 12:00 p.m., parents started flooding the school compound. The students left the exam halls and made their way out of the school soon after.
