To celebrate International Friendship Day and create lasting memories, a vibrant photobooth was set up in the Block A lobby from the 26th to 28th of July, 2024. The photobooth was thoughtfully designed, showcasing elements of Japanese culture. It featured taiko drums, paper lanterns, colorful fireworks illustrations, and two adorable paper figures dressed in traditional yukata as its main highlights. In the bottom left corner, a detailed and realistic depiction of kakigori dessert added a touch of authenticity. Blue cloth, symbolizing water, surrounded the display, with small origami goldfish scattered along the river image, creating a refreshing, summery vibe. Beyond offering unique photo opportunities, the photobooth also served as an exhibit of traditional Japanese festival attire for all to enjoy.

With its stunning design, the photobooth attracted both students and teachers who had eagerly waited for the photo sessions. They posed with fun props like fans, word signs, and masks, adding to the unique and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

“The photobooth project went smoothly overall, but it took nearly a month of planning and two weeks of actual production,” stated the Head of the Japanese Language Society with pride. “The only trouble we had was on the advertising aspect because not too many students are aware of the photobooth.” But he went on, “However, the number of students who came increased significantly when our lively and friendly club members helped to spread word of the photobooth to their friends and classmates.”

To sum up, the photobooth proved to be a huge success. It created a joyful and welcoming environment across the school, which perfectly encapsulated the spirit of International Friendship Day.
