Kuen Cheng High School’s Pandemic Prevention Committee recently organised a Pandemic Prevention Comic Drawing Competition to act in concert with Kuen Cheng High School’s Pandemic Prevention activities for July. The competition organisers, which consists of five students who are all prefects, under the guidance of Ms Ho Hong Ling and Mr Joshua Tan, began receiving comic submissions on the 4th of July and set the dateline as the 6th of August.
Joshua, one of the teachers in charge, said that close cooperation and communication is a key in planning activities and events. He also jokingly said that through this activity, the students in charge also became increasingly familiar with each other, even memorising each other’s phone numbers.
Head Prefect Chan Yong Tong, one of the students in charge, stated that she learned a lot while preparing for the competition and that she gained loads of good experience from this activity. Yong Tong found it challenging to shoot the video to promote the competition, although the video was shot by members of the Drama Club, the Committee Members had to play characters in the video and write their own scripts.
Joshua and Yong Tong mentioned that the preparations for the competition were completed smoothly at the end of May. Both agreed that the biggest challenge that the organisers faced is that there are not many submissions nearing the initial dateline. The Committee Members had the members of the Monitor’s Club send out the competition poster in their respective class’ group chats. They also photocopied the posters and had them put on every classroom in the school.
The total submissions they received surpassed 20, and the Committee Members even got the Comic Club’s coach to act as the judge for this competition. Joshua hoped that the Organising Committee members and the students who took part in the competition enjoyed the process of doing so, and even discover their own potential along the process. Both Joshua and Yong Tong were also amazed by the creativity of the students who took part in the competition.
All in all, this activity gave many people the opportunity to learn and discover something new, but for now, let’s congratulate the winners in advance.
