On 13 April 2019, the latest learning activity day played an imperative role in cultivating students to appreciate. The purpose of this activity is to let students understand that important things in their life can be taken away at any second. This predisposes students to appreciate better and not take things for granted. A myriad of activities was conducted in class with the help from every form teacher.

Students were asked to fill in five important things in their life in a piece of paper and teachers guided them on the activity. Each student would eventually have only two papers left with them while the rest were collected by the teacher. Through this activity, students are able to feel what it is like to lose something important accompanied by the detailed explanation by the teacher.

In the first video that was played in class shows that how Asians raised their children and parents do not usually express their love for the family by saying “I love you” to each other. In view of that, parents express their love and affection to their kids by actions. The second video then features how mothers blame themselves for their children’s wrongdoings. It was trying to make students realize their actions could really take a toll on their parents. Parents tend to scold their children as they feel guilty for not being able to educate their child well.

Students were given a chance to write down their gratitude towards their classmates and a special letter for their parents were also written during the activity session. Purpose of the activity was to give the students a sense of guilt for troubling those sitting beside them and letting them worry.

Nicely decorated postcards were distributed to students and students were asked to draw and write on the blank page of the postcard. They were then collected by the teachers and later were delivered to the parents.

Last but not least, each student has received an appreciation letter from their classmates before the activity came to an end. Overall, the activity successfully delivered the message of appreciation; students and the class were filled with much laughter and plenty of smiles.
