On the 23rd of September 2022, the doors of the auditorium were opened at 7 am, where students who had been attending daily dance sessions jointly directed by the Academics Department and Physical Education Department flooded inside. There were twice as many people today, as the volunteers who had been helping with study efforts were all in attendance today as well.
When most of the attendees were seated, Madam Tan Huei Chee, Assistant Admin Head of the Academics Department stepped onstage to emcee the event. The event started with the flag-raising ceremony, all the students singing the National Anthem and the School Song with fervour.
After that, the stage was passed to a group of students, who led everyone in attendance to dance to TFBOYS “Big Dreamer”, an iconic morning workout dance passed down by previous Senior Middle Three students. The students who are part of the program have been dancing to this song for several months now, as part of their efforts to improve their grades through a combination of study aid, morale-boosting physical exercise, and meditation. The dance was energetic, and most students gave their utmost cooperation, dancing with gusto.
When the dance ended, the students took their seats and calmed themselves down for their daily meditation session led by Mr Tan Yong Chin of the Counseling Department. This consisted of ten minutes of sitting down, relaxing their muscles and being mindful in order for them to focus better. The session was incredibly soothing, leading all who participated into a state of inner peace with the help of Mr Tan’s gentle voice.
At the end of the meditation session, Principal Dr Chua Lee Lee was invited onstage to give a speech. There, she spoke of how students all deserved chances to get help, and how we should thank the teachers for working so hard to help us. She also mentioned that every morning she would play a few motivational videos for her students that took the effort to prepare, especially with her already immense workload. All the teachers were received by warm applause when she ended her speech with a grateful thank you towards them.
Madam Tan Huei Chee proceeded to cue all the teachers in charge of Senior Middle Two and Junior Middle Three students onstage to present their blessings to the students they had so dutifully cared for over the course of the past few months. The moment was genuinely heartwarming, as many students would crush their teacher in a large group hug as thanks.
The student volunteers were also presented with certificates of appreciation for their many months of help, and their efforts recognized. After a group photo session, the ceremony ended.
