On the 2nd of September 2024, a weekly assembly was held for students of Senior Middle 2 and 3 at the hall. As per standard procedure, the assembly began with the Head Prefects leading the students in greeting the teachers, followed by the singing of the national and school anthems, and a recitation of the school motto.

Once everyone was seated, Mr. Tan Hur Thong, our English teacher and also the Assistant Admin Head of the Academic Department, delivered a presentation titled “Having Others in Your Heart,” focusing on the theme of friendship. He differentiated between superficial friends—those who are smooth talkers, overly flattering, and self-serving—and true friends, who offer genuine support, honest feedback, and share both joys and challenges. To cultivate and sustain deep friendships, Mr. Tan recommended giving thoughtful, practical gifts, engaging in honest conversations, performing acts of kindness, and treating friends with equality. He also suggested reading How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie for further insight.

Following Mr. Tan’s presentation, a representative from the Kuen Cheng Police Cadets delivered a note on traffic safety. They announced that the school will implement new traffic routes in October to improve traffic flow particularly during peak drop-off times in the morning. The representative provided detailed instructions on the new procedures, including the specific entry points students will use based on their assigned routes.

Next, Mr. Pang Chung Seong, the Assistant Admin Head of the Discipline Department, took the stage to give a report. He first addressed concerns about school cleanliness and hygiene, highlighting issues with improper dish disposal and littering. However, he also praised students from Block A for their efforts in maintaining clean classrooms, encouraging all students to follow their example. Mr. Pang then emphasized the importance of adhering to school rules, such as using computers for learning purposes only and queuing properly for assemblies.

The assembly concluded with students bowing to thank the teachers, after which classes filed out in an orderly manner.
