Melodies and Mastery: Showcasing Talent at the Piano Competition

On July 27, 2024, Kuen Cheng High School’s piano competition finals were held in the auditorium. After intense competition in the preliminary round, held from June 19 to July 5, 18 intermediate and advanced contestants stood out as this prestigious competition’s finalists!

At 10:45 a.m. sharp, the emcee announced the start of the competition. The intermediate group kicked off the event, with each contestant stepping onto the stage to present their chosen piece. After the nine intermediate contestants completed their performances, the emcee welcomed the advanced group to the stage.

As the final contestant finished their piece, the judges began deliberating on the awards. During this time, Ng Jiun from Jr3S1 played the harmonica and Lim Zhe Yu from Sr1ComA accompanied on the piano for a delightful performance of “Fly Me to the Moon.” Following this, Kuan Xing Yi, the winner of Kuen Cheng High School’s solo singing competition, enchanted the audience with a rendition of the Chinese song “Photo”.
Shortly after, the judges concluded their discussions, and it was time to announce the winners. The awards distribution was as follows:

Madam Chua Lee Lee, the Principal of Kuen Cheng High School, was invited on stage to present the trophies to the winning contestants. The competition concluded with a Q&A session led by one of the judges, Ms. Hee Siaw Fuey, providing valuable feedback and insights for all participants.

The event was a resounding success, showcasing the incredible talent and dedication of Kuen Cheng High School’s students. As the audience departed, there was a palpable sense of pride and accomplishment, not only among the winners but also among all the participants who contributed to a memorable and inspiring competition. This year’s piano competition has set a high standard, and the school community eagerly anticipates next year’s event.
