As part of Kuen Cheng High School’s Science Week 2024, a science experiments exhibition was held on the school premises. The exhibition featured six different sections, available for students to explore from June 26th to 28th during the second recess. The students in charge of each section were responsible for explaining the mechanics behind the experiments to interested attendees.

The subjects of the experiments showcased included biology, chemistry, physics, astronomy, and mathematics. Each subject was assigned to a specific location for their exhibitions, such as the biology, chemistry, and physics labs, which were made available to the students for their displays.

One particularly special side activity was prepared by the mathematics division. Students had the opportunity, over the three days, to collect four stamps by visiting each booth in the mathematics section of the exhibition. Those who successfully completed this task were awarded a mystery gift, prepared by the mathematics division.
Below is a summary of the booths that were set up during these exciting three days:

Biology Corner
The Biology corner was the most popular among all subjects. Booths such as “The Maze Experiment,” “Frog Dissection,” and “Do Mosquito-repellent Coils Kill Off Mosquitoes or Mice?” garnered the most attention from students. The most unique booth was undoubtedly the one showcasing several exotic insects to students.

Chemistry Lab
Littered with chemicals galore, the chemistry lab featured booths showcasing Sodium Flowers and Flaming Hands. Students were extremely amused by the “magic of chemistry” demonstrations presented by the exhibitors.

Physics Division
“Play with fire,” as they say. Students gathered around a Ruben’s tube, handmade by the physics division, which produced controlled flames that danced to the beat of the music. Other booths focused on the Doppler Effect and 3D holograms.

Astronomy Team
The astronomy team created a peaceful yet out-of-this-world experience for the students, featuring fairy lights and handicrafts of sunspots, planets, and constellations. This was complemented by an outdoor telescope exhibit, situated just outside the school hall.

Mathematics Division
The mathematics division put great effort into their exhibit, which was amass with hands-on activities. Math Scrabble and Burr Puzzles were provided for students to explore, engaging their minds and enriching their learning experience.

Overall, the exhibition was greatly enjoyed by both students and teachers, opening their minds to new fields of exotic knowledge and practical facts, such as the Five-Second Rule. Despite the tedious preparations, the efforts of the Senior Middle One and Senior Middle Two students paid off. We hope that all participants gained valuable insights into the wonderful world of science, as we know it and as nature intended.
