The 14 October 2023 is the much-anticipated return-to-school independent learning activity day of Kuen Cheng High School. This day saw a variety of events. The Air Scout and St. John Ambulance Brigade organized knot tying and first-aid classes for students of Junior Middle Two.

Teaching how to wrap a large arm

One hour and fifty minutes was the duration of the course. Individuals from the St. John Ambulance Brigade were the first to provide instruction. Two groups of St. John’s Ambulance Brigade members were formed, and each group offered instructions on how to treat a laceration, wrap a large arm, and do cardiopulmonary resuscitation. They also went over the things to look out for when presses that can be applied in an emergency. The students were also given the opportunity to practice CPR and provide first-aid as well as the technique bandaging by the team members.

Tying knots

The Air Scouts came next and showed us how to tie knots. Each of us received a single rope. They discussed the value of knotting and went over the procedures for each kind of knotting. There are also ikatan bunga geti, reef knots, and simpul manuk. There was a great vibe and some movement when the Air Scouts invited their peers to challenge them. Most students appreciated and hoped that they can keep learning and improving on these basic life-saving skills!
