With the array of activities held for the year coming to a swift end, Kuen Cheng Philharmonic Orchestra (KCPO) held its annual farewell party on the 24th of August 2023, serenading the parting members with one final refrain as they prepared to embark on their respective journeys towards their glorious horizons.

After a jovial welcome from the emcees, the event began with farewell speeches and well-wishes from the teacher-advisors and instructors. To quote Mr. Chan Ling Chee, the orchestra’s resident conductor-cum-instructor, “Remember your duties as alumni, and learn to not just receive, but also contribute.”

Thereafter came the highlight of the event—the interactive game session. The chosen game was none other than the age-old classic staple of every celebration—musical chairs. Tension possessed both the players and the spectators as the contenders dwindled and the battle for the final seat grew increasingly intense. At last, gifts were awarded to the top three winners and a commemorative group photo was taken.

Finally, the time came for the 20 graduates to deliver their speeches and words of farewell. Waves of nostalgia came with every speech as the would-be alumni reminisced their most memorable experiences and expressed their gratitude for the teachers and instructors, their friends and section mates, and of course, the Orchestra itself. After all the speeches were delivered, the academic coordinator presented to each of the graduates a gift bag with meticulously crafted and selected presents, wishing them a prosperous journey ahead.
