18th May 2023, a much anticipated day for participants of the 2023 Pertandingan Syarahan Bahasa Melayu final. During both recesses, students gathered in the auditorium to embrace the reckoning event. Significant flags from respective supportive classes were held high to uplift participants’ confidence and determination.

The panel judges for the Junior category were Cikgu Intan, Cikgu Haslida and Cikgu Hafizah whereas Cikgu Haslida, Cikgu Syafini and Cikgu Azila were the panel judges for the Senior category.

The kickstarter of the junior contest, Lim Ke Ru from Jr1S(1), gave her speech with the title “Faedah Membaca Buku”. Followingly was Low Tze XIan from Jr1Z(1) who gave a speech titled “Muhibah Menyuburkan Rukun Keluarga Malaysia”. Next was Low Kai Xin from Jr2Z(2) with her speech titled “Langkah-langkah mengatasi Gejala sosial”. Then, Lai Yu Qian from Jr2Z(4) gave a speech titled “Negara Kita Tanggungjawab Bersama”. Lastly, Charmaine Ng Zi Qi from Jr2Z(4) ended the finals with “Kunci Perpaduan”.

The same goes for the senior category. After drawing lots, the first participant to speak on stage was Carmen Ngo from Sr3ScA with her speech titled “Pohon Perpaduan Ini Milik Kita.” The second speaker was Ngo Kar Min from Sr1ScA with her speech titled “Cintaku Tertinggal Di Malaysia”. Next was Chee Xin Yen from Sr2ScB who delivered a speech titled “Sehati Sejiwa”. Followingly was Teoh Kai Yee from Sr2ScA with her speech titled “Remaja Membaca, Remaja Berjaya.” The last contestant of the day was Lai Qian Yi from Sr2ScC with “Rakyat Setia, Negara Sejahtera”.

After a thorough discussion among the panel of judges, the greatly awaited results were announced. For the Junior category, Lai Yu Qian was awarded first place, Low Tze Xian placed second, Charmaine Ng Zi Qi took the third place while Low Kai Xin and Lim Ke Ru were awarded the consolation prizes. As for the Seniors, the first place was awarded to Ngo Kar Min, Carmen Ngo held second, Lai Qian Yi took the third place whereas Teoh Kai Yee and Chee Xin Yen were awarded the consolations. A round of applause was given proudly to every contestant and a photograph was taken with all winners and the panel of judges involved.

After the event, students gradually moved out from the auditorium and headed back towards their respective classes. The panel teachers did point out in saying that appreciation should be delivered to all who had taken part in the competition. Improvement should be made in juniors’ performances, especially on how natural their gestures and postures could be performed on stage. While for the seniors, teachers exclaimed that there was an objection during the discussions on selecting the winner of the first place and the second as the competition was too intense among the senior finalists.
