On 18th April 2023, Kuen Cheng Academic Department organized a Hari Raya Aidilfitri Celebration, one of the biggest festivals for Muslims around the world, including those in Malaysia. This celebration was held at the hall during the second recess, welcoming all students and teachers to celebrate this grand festival alongside the Muslims.

The booming drumming sounds of the 24 festive drums marked the start of the celebration. The teachers were led to their seats by a group of students dressed in traditional Malay costumes while playing the Malay traditional instrument “kompang”.

Following up was the Chinese Orchestra with their beautiful pieces, “Dikir Puteri” and “Selamat Hari Raya”. The combination of the erhu, flute, plucked instruments, and the rhythmic beating of the 24 festive drums filled the auditorium with melodious music. Their wonderful performance not only won cheers and applause from teachers and students but also officially kicked off the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration ceremony.

The Principal followed up with a congratulatory speech for this celebration. She particularly thanked the Academic Department and the Organizing Committee for their hard work in planning this event, while also reminding those teachers and students who are heading back to their hometown for the celebration to be careful on their way back home.

This was followed by a Malay language blessing video jointly produced by the Academic and the Organizing Committee. In the video, teachers and students were interviewed on various questions related to the Hari Raya celebration, such as their favourite Malay traditional food, their preferred activities for the school’s Hari Raya celebration, and their favourite Malay traditional games. The video concluded with the teachers and students offering their celebration greetings.

After the joyful greeting video, the Diabolo Club presented a fantastic performance for the audience, which was met with thunderous applause.

The final performance was presented by the Choir Club, with the song ‘Warna Warni Aidilfitri’. Unlike their usual performances, they incorporated easy dance movements into their routine this time and this undoubtedly made their performance more interesting.
