Education shouldn’t just be limited to the classroom. The school library is one of the storehouses of knowledge and culture in Kuen Cheng High School, playing a key role in educating students and teachers alike on general information. According to its Head of Department, Ms. Ong Lay Fong, the library is aiming to do that by holding monthly exhibitions for all to see.

Ms. Ong plans to hold simple yet enlightening themed exhibitions at the walkway next to the stairs between the first and second floor of the library once every month. Such a placement was chosen to attract and allow those who pass by to get a glimpse of the information given and be invited to explore more.

However, even such a simple and concise looking exhibition board takes quite the effort to prepare. As said by Ms. Ong, she takes around a week to research and compile information according to the theme while other staff members and student librarians help with the decorations for up to three weeks.

January Library Exhibition

For the month of January, the library held an exhibition closely related to the Chinese New Year. The board was decorated with several seasonal decorations and highlighted the festive season. Among the decorations were cute rabbits and Chinese lanterns to commemorate the Year of the Rabbit. There were also Chinese readings for each zodiac sign regarding this year’s luck and fortune.
On the other hand, the exhibitions and events for February have been released, encompassing information to do with classical literature (for more information, please refer to the library’s Facebook page linked below). We hope everyone is looking forward to the exhibitions and other library events for the months to come!
