After years of online learning, Kuen Cheng High School students are now able to attend Independent Learning Day activities on Saturdays. All Senior Middle One students had the opportunity to participate in the lecture “First Aid For All” led by the St. John Club on the 14th of January 2023. The event was held in every Senior Middle One class by St. John Club members who actively moved to different classrooms to give out their section of the activity.

The demonstration was split into 6 different sections: Transport, Choking, CPR, Injuries, Sprains & Strains and Recovery Positions. Members of the St. John Club entered each Senior Middle One class at 8 a.m. and started their presentations shortly after. Furthermore, teachers from different departments entered each classroom to keep order while other teachers patrolled around each class.

Each part of the activity began with a quick introduction from members of the St. John club, who were given a warm welcome by the class. St. John club members gave out enticing talks and live demonstrations regarding the topic of first aid. Afterwards, students were given the chance to practice the first-aid methods under the guidance and supervision of the St. John members.

During various parts of the talk, first-aid equipment and training dummies were brought into the class and used for live demonstrations and first-aid practices. PowerPoint presentations and YouTube videos were used during other parts of the talk to clearly explain the bits of first-aid practices and knowledge. The attending students and teachers were in awe of the demonstrations done by St. John members.

After the long demonstration, a 2-hour-long recess was given to the students and St. John members. This well-deserved break for everyone lasted for an hour and gave students enough time to prepare for the class meetings after the break.
