“Good morning everyone!” Two bubbly emcees started their greetings with joy and enthusiasm. Silence rippled across the hall, the still air quivering with anticipation. “Throughout the whole year, we have faced many hardships, but in the end here we are! Now, let us go aboard the train of memories, for a recap of all this year’s activities!” At long last, Kuen Cheng High School’s 2022 Completion Ceremony has begun, at 8.15 a.m., 7th of December 2022! After having both the National Anthem and School Anthem sung, followed by the recital of Kuen Cheng’s core values, the emcees invited Principal, Madam Dr Chua Lee Lee on stage to give her speech.

Principal’s Speech

Our Principal started by stating that she is quite moved by the scene in the hall, with most teachers, parents, alumni and Senior Middle One students gathering together. The last time this has happened, according to Madam Chua, was during February 2020, before the movement control order (MCO) took place due to the outbreak of pandemic.

Everybody part of this School has given their full cooperation throughout the MCO, moving from 2020, to 2021, then finally to 2022 when we get to have physical classes. From online classes to gradually loosening strict covid measures with 4+1 classes mode, Madam Chua presented the progress of the whole School with a concluding video for 2022. The video was greeted by much applause and cheers from the crowd.

Lastly, the Principal announced some important arrangements for the new Academic Year in 2023. Classes will be fully physical and will start from 6th January 2023 onward. Another important piece of information is that the number of students per class will increase in response to the new in-school setting. Madam Chua hopes that everybody will enjoy the school holidays and prepare themselves for the new school year.

Madam Ngiam Yoke Ping’s Farewell Ceremony

Madam Ngiam Yoke Ping, a devoted Mathematics Teacher, always gives her students a helping hand and has a soft heart. Being an alumna herself, Madam Ngiam has already taught at Kuen Cheng High School for thirty-three years; a big crowd of her ex-students flooded in the hall to give presents and take photos with her. Madam Ngiam gave a touching and at the same time, hilarious speech to great cheers and claps of anticipation. There was also a video about her, a cake cutting session and an amazing performance of an original song, “花期” by five KC-ians. We are sad to see Madam Ngiam go, but we do hope that she will always be happy and healthy! Happy retirement, to our beloved Madam Ngiam!

With that, the Kuen Cheng High School 2022 Completion Ceremony came to an end. Let us usher in the new school year with excitement and resilience! Lastly, happy holidays, everyone!
