On the 15th of September, Kuen Cheng High School’s 114th Anniversary and Teacher’s Day celebration (themed Spring Rain·Cultural Transmission “春雨·传承”) was held. All Senior Middle Two and Senior Middle Three students were invited into the Lee Shin Cheng Hall on this special day to watch the celebration. The rest of all students of different Levels stayed in their respective classrooms to watch the live stream broadcasted directly from the Hall. Students started entering the Hall at 7.20 a.m., followed by the guest-welcoming session where students clapped and cheered for the arrival of all our beloved teachers.
The beginning of the celebration was packed with impressive and amazing performances including Chinese martial arts by the Wushu Club and a unicycle performance, earning a great round of applause from the audience. A warm and touching speech was given by Datuk Chong Tho Chin, Secretary of the Board of Governors of Kuen Cheng High School, where he emphasized the importance of being grateful for the school facilities provided to the students these days that were not present during their time of education.

The School Principal, Dr Chua Lee Lee gave her speech revealing the activities that will be held next year in conjunction with Kuen Cheng’s 115th Anniversary which no doubt got everyone hyped up. Last but not least, both emcees Chan Yong Tong and Ling Zhi Ern wished Kuen Cheng Happy Birthday and Happy Teacher’s Day. Then, all the teachers went up to the stage to participate in the cake-cutting ceremony for Kuen Cheng’s 114th Anniversary.

Next up was the award-giving ceremony regarding the Class Bulletin Board Design and Bookmark Design Competition. Teachers who served for 10 to 45 years have also been invited to receive awards for their excellent services. A lovely video by Kuen Cheng Kindergarten students and alumni was played to show appreciation to the two teachers who served for 45 years.
A play featuring online and physical classes directed by Yee Shen Miin was presented by Sr2ScD students. The wonderful presentation ended with a dance by the performers following the song “Good Time”.

With the lights darkened, members of the Diabolo Club performed on stage using glowing diabolos and streamers which left the audience in awe. Two students sang “Hundred Years Anniversary Anthem” melodiously. With that, the ceremony came to a close.
After recess, several activities were held. First of all were the performances at the Hall, including that from the Club Members of 24 Festive Drums, Modern Dance etc. Some Senior Middle Three students were competing in the basketball competition with spectators cheering at the side. On the other side of the court, some of the Senior Middle Two students had signed up for the Dodgebee competition while Senior Middle One students teamed up to join the station games. What’s interesting is that all the above activities required students to team up with teachers. Last but not least, Junior students were allowed to join the scavenger hunt.
