The assembly started off with the National and School anthems, and the recital of Kuen Cheng High School Students’ Ethics by the representatives from the Prefectorial Board. After that, one of the assembly’s most important activities – a talk by our Principal, Dr Chua Lee Lee finally started. Her talk was titled: “True freedom belongs to disciplined and responsible people”.

One of the main points was: there is a limit to freedom, and it must be built based on respect and responsibility without causing harm or inconvenience to other people. There is also no real freedom. It is restricted by society, the feeling of responsibility and the law of nature. In conclusion, we should learn to be disciplined and responsible so we can live freely without disrupting others.

Next was a sharing session on journaling by Gan Lin Kee from Jr3Z(7). Some benefits of journaling are we can use journals to note stuff, document daily life and understand past happenings. We can also read the journals anytime we want to. There are several different journaling themes: daily life, study notes, food diary, clothing selection, travel journals and others. She also shared the materials needed to start journaling and where to buy them.

Lastly, a video on the Gratitude Month organised by the Kuen Cheng Counselling Department. In the video, various students and teachers shared their thoughts on the activities held during the Gratitude Month.

All in all, it was a very enlightening assembly for everyone.
