During the first recess, the Club set up a small booth with two dummies on the table. People were immediately attracted by the display. Turned out these were to be used for practicing first aid for CPR and choking. These CPR Doll models come with names, they are separately called Rescue Annie and Choking Charlie. Hands-on training has been provided to participating students on CPR and the usage of the AED machine. They also learned how to save someone from choking. A cotton ball was placed in the throat of Choking Charlie to simulate someone choking. When the procedure was performed correctly, the cotton ball will be forced out, which means that the first aid worked perfectly.

For the individual game, students were given 30 seconds to memorize where items were placed in a first aid kit, then they had to place items in an empty kit according to their memory. For the group game, a group of 2 would have to learn and try the correct ways to get a person out of a dangerous situation. For example, carrying their friend on their back or dragging them out in a safe way.

From July 31st to August 4th, 2023, Kuen Cheng High School’s Air Scout, Police Cadets, Girl Guides, St. John Ambulance, and the Prefects collaborated in organizing the highly anticipated 5-Uniformed Societies Week (五制服周). This collaborative effort resulted in a week filled with a plethora of exciting activities that left a lasting impact on the students.

As for the girl guides, aside from the fascinating display at Block A, showcasing the rich history and achievements of the Girl Guides, including their fire camp expertise, community service initiatives, and camping apparatus, there was also a captivating unique performance at the front of the hall.

In addition to these events, the Girl Guides hosted some activities as part of the station games during the 5-Uniformed Societies Week. These activities were divided into two categories: individual and group challenges.

For the individual challenge, the “Kim’s Game” tested participants’ senses as they guessed hidden items from a mysterious black box. After guessing the item correctly, they are asked to draw a piece of paper from another enigmatic box, which could reveal either getting nothing, one free badge, or even two badges! Participants could keep trying until they succeed and earn a chop.

In the group activity, a hand signal signalling game brought together a team of three to four students. Led by a Girl Guide member, participants were taught the hand signals for each alphabet. After learning the hand signals, the students had to pass a hand signal and decode it. Upon a successful answer, the group will receive a chop and could move on to the next station.

As the 5-Uniformed Societies Week came to a close, the Girl Guides emerged as shining examples of dedication and excellence. The event not only celebrated their achievements but also reinforced the importance of unity and collaboration among the students.
