In conjunction with the much anticipated Chinese New Year, Kuen Cheng High School has organised a class decorating contest. The theme was obviously related to the Chinese New Year, with this year being the Year of the Rabbit.

As soon as the contest notice was issued, word spread like wildfire and soon the whole school was set on decorating their respective classes to be the most outstanding of them all. Students could be seen moving about tirelessly during recess hours, decorating their class’s interior and exterior with handmade crafts made with ang pow packets, recycled paper and many more. It was truly a sight to behold, observing students working together in hopes of nabbing the first prize in this competition.

Fellow students surely have gone all out in decorating their classrooms. Many of the classes would be complimented by teachers and fellow students. One could take a casual stroll around the school premises and find themselves pleasantly greeted with extravagant and creative decorative designs. Once the decorating process was completed, class teachers would proudly take pictures of the finished product to forever preserve the memory.

After meticulous ranking and selections from the judges, soon came the prize announcement. Everyone waited with bated breath for their class’s name to be broadcasted across the whole school compound, thus signifying their victory. For the Junior group, we have Jr3Z(6) and Jr2S(5) settling in for both consolation prizes. Jr3Z(1) came in 3rd place. Next was Jr2Z(1) in 2nd and this year we have Jr2Z(2) taking 1st Place! As for the Senior group, classes Sr2ComC and Sr2B took the consolation prizes. In 3rd place is Sr1B and 2nd is Sr2C. Finally, in 1st Place is Sr1ScB! Congratulations once again to all the classes that have won.

With all of us coping with the drastic changes from blended learning to a fully physical learning environment, competitions like these help tremendously with building a healthy relationship among classmates. From my point of view, I think these contests bring more to the table than just celebrating a certain holiday or occasion.
