On 11th October 2021, the School held a briefing for Senior Middle 2 students about their upcoming trial exams to be held in school and the Senior Middle 3 syllabus during the weekly assembly. Our Principal, Dr Chua Lee Lee, together with the Head of the Academic Department as well as our Counselling Teacher, Madam Kang Ruey Chyi were the speakers of the event.
Madam Chua conveyed her concern about our school reopening, as announced by the Ministry of Education according to the National Recovery Plan, to begin on 18th October 2021,. The reopening of schools is carried out in stages according to the COVID-19 situation in most areas. Currently, the latest Delta variant is more contagious than ever; it transmits more easily and has a longer incubation period. Hence, the Principal gathered us here today to explain the school’s stance whilst understanding the student’s perspective regarding the trial exam.
Infection Prevention
Students must inform their Form Teacher if they have suspected COVID-19 symptoms to be excused from school. That includes their nearest family members, classmates or B & C group suspected patients as well. The School will reschedule their trials. Students must always follow the standard operating procedures (SOP), wash hands frequently, refrain from attending social events and check the COVID-19 status from their respective MySejahtera.
A Health Declaration Form will be provided before school reopens. It is advisable to wear two types of face masks, the outer layer made of fabric and the inner layer a surgical mask such as KF94 and KN95. Students must present their MySejahtera status to the teachers before entering the School. Then, they should return to class immediately after marking our attendance with the student ID card.
In class, students must maintain a safe distance between classmates. It is recommended to disinfect our seats every morning with antibacterial wipes or cloth. Only two students are allowed to use the toilet every time to prevent crowding in the hallway.
Apart from this, the School introduced COVID-19 rapid antigen kits (COVID-19 Self-test Kits) that could be easily found in local pharmacies. The Principal further encouraged that we take the test at least once a week when school reopens. The coloured band indicates the result of the test as shown in the picture below.
